CONNECT’s Most Innovative New Product “MIP” Awards – CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
Nominations Accepted: July 11, 2011 – September 2, 2011
Nominate your new product for an opportunity to compete in the 24th annual CONNECT MIP Awards, San Diego’s most prestigious honor for technology and life science innovation.
Winners will be announced before an audience of more than 800 of the region’s top business leaders, researchers and capital providers. CONNECT MIP Award finalists and winners benefit from valuable community recognition, media coverage and product exposure. Participants are also given the opportunity to display their products at the premier CONNECT MIP Awards luncheon.
Starting July 11, 2011, CONNECT is accepting nominations in the following eight categories:
Action and Sport Technologies
Aerospace and Security Technologies
Clean Technology
Communications and IT
Hardware and General Technology
Life Science-Diagnostic and Research Tools
Life Science-Medical Products
Software
2011 Eligibility Criteria:
- The product must have been developed in the San Diego area
- The product must have been first introduced between March 2010 and September 2011 (and never nominated for this award before)
- The product must have generated revenue from sales

September 2 - Urban Land Institute Powering Innovation Economies
The Urban Land Institute is an international non-profit organization with 30,0000 members focused on developing leaders in the responsible use of land and in creating sustainable and thriving communities worldwide. They are a well-respected land use think tank that has been around for 75 years.
ULI San Diego/Tijuana has developed a conference that I thought you all might want to be a part of. It is called Powering Innovation Economies. The focus of this national conference, which takes place at the Hilton Bayside San Diego on September 2nd, is to establish a national forum on the best ideas and most successful techniques for growing innovation economies. See invitation below. Placemaking, technology and preparing the workforce are key components of an innovation economy and a major part of this conference. This is also the core of the EDC mission.
The San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation supported this program last year and are very supportive of it again this year. Nominations are due by close of business on Friday, August 19th, 2011. Nominations will be judged by an independent panel comprised of Elected Officials and Agency Executives on the 2010 – 2012 WTS San Diego Honorary Board and other industry leaders.
For the past 17 years WTS San Diego has delighted in recognizing the contributions of organizations and individuals in the transportation industry at our vastly attended Annual Awards event.
