Our mission for the City of Santee is to provide a high quality of life for present and future Santee residents and businesses, promote economic prosperity, and preserve the community’s unique environmental resources.

With excellent economic indicators, available land for development, a skilled labor force, transit linkage to downtown San Diego by trolley, and access to three regional freeways – Santee offers unparalleled opportunities for economic growth and expansion. At the crossroads of State Route 52 and State Route 125, Santee is located just 20 minutes from downtown San Diego, the Golden Triangle/La Jolla area, and the “silicon” businesses of Sorrento Valley. In the heart of Santee sits the Santee Town Center, a visionary master planned development consisting of 706 acres of mixed-uses bisected by the San Diego River. This award-winning master plan, adopted in 1986, integrates commercial, office, residential, and recreational uses with “smart growth” principles of mixed-use development, pedestrian and transit orientation, and river habitat enhancement.

The City of Santee and the County of San Diego are jointly working on master development of a 104-acre High Tech Corporate Office Park on County-owned land in the Santee Town Center. Development of over 1.7 million square feet of office space will be phased over a period of 2-4 years, with Phoenix-based Ryan Companies as master developer. Hartford Financial Services will occupy a 100,000 square foot anchor building in Spring 2003 in the first phase. Directly adjacent to the office park is the new Santee Trolley Square shopping center offering 450,000 square feet of major retail stores, shops and restaurants. It is also the location of the $2.5 million Santee Transit Center linking Santee to downtown San Diego and the region via the San Diego Trolley.

The City of Santee is poised to be “the next high tech frontier” for the San Diego region, given its optimal location and corporate development potential.
