CHALLENGE
In October 2024, the U.S. Commercial Service office in San Diego connected EDAN to World Trade Center San Diego (WTCSD) as the company prepared to scale from its existing 14,000-square-foot San Diego site, home to roughly 26 sales, marketing, service, and administrative employees, to its first full U.S.-based manufacturing operation. The company required rapid facility buildout, specialized manufacturing talent, and immigration support for technical staff traveling from China to train local hires.
EDC SOLUTION AND SUPPORT PROVIDED
WTCSD first provided a letter of intent in October 2024 to support EDAN’s visa applications, enabling key personnel to travel to San Diego and train newly hired local San Diego staff. In partnership with U.S. Commercial Service, WTCSD team also delivered tailored expansion resources, including information on local incentives, details on San Diego workforce and talent pipelines, and introductions to relevant business services.
Following EDAN’s lease signing in December 2024, WTCSD continued to provide regional marketing and visibility support, by participating and providing public remarks at the company’s ribbon-cutting ceremony in Sorrento Mesa in September 2025.

VALUE DERIVED
WTCSD’s early engagement and support accelerated EDAN’s ability to launch its U.S.-based manufacturing, helping the company deepen its San Diego presence and become operational within an ambitious six-month timeline. Through its new Sorrento Mesa manufacturing site, EDAN is investing between $3 to $5 million in the region over three years to establish domestic production and logistics capabilities for its medical device products.
The facility is expected to add more than 100 quality jobs locally, including factory management and regulatory staff. The September 2025 ribbon cutting marked a significant milestone in EDAN’s U.S. growth strategy, increasing the company’s visibility within the region and contributing to San Diego’s strong medical device manufacturing ecosystem.
“The guidance and support provided by World Trade Center San Diego, San Diego Regional EDC, and U.S. Commercial Service were critical in helping us establish our U.S. manufacturing operations quickly and efficiently. Their expertise streamlined a complex process, allowing us to expand our footprint and strengthen our impact in the region.”
