Cloudbeds makes media splash in new HQ

ServiceMarketing/Visibility

Founded in 2012 by native San Diegans and UC San Diego Rady School of Management MBA graduates Adam Harris and Richard Castle, Cloudbeds creates cloud-based hospitality management software and employs nearly 25 in San Diego, with plans for further growth.

After years in a quaint but much-too-small office, Cloudbeds expanded its San Diego presence with a new headquarters in Bankers Hill. Reflective of its company culture and of the region’s tech ecosystem, the newly expanded office space is chock-full of wall art, a game room, outdoor working space and picnic area, and a 12- foot willow tree and turf in its common area.

Problem

Cloudbeds wanted to increase local brand exposure as it officially opened its new San Diego headquarters.

EDC Solution

After an initial meeting, Cloudbeds became a WTCSD MetroConnect company, and vocalized its hope for increased brand exposure at home and abroad. EDC stepped in to support the company in making a media splash around its new headquarters with a ribbon-cutting and media event in November 2018. EDC worked alongside the Cloudbeds team to draft and distribute an event agenda, media advisories, and a press release, as well as secured the attendance of Congressman Scott Peters.

Results

EDC supported the tech company in hosting a ribbon cutting and press conference with Congressman Scott Peters and EDC’s Nikia Clarke in attendance. The event yielded seven media hits with 1.2 million impressions, as well as significant activity on EDC and WTCSD’s owned media channels: e-newsletters, blog, and social media.

Based on the media secured, Cloudbeds secured one new client who visited the office following the event.

“EDC’s support during our office grand opening was extremely thorough and professional. EDC staff was instrumental in securing quality media coverage for our ribbon cutting. Their team is organized, calm under pressure, and showed genuine care for the success of the event. San Diego area businesses are lucky to have the entire EDC team as an asset to help them grow.”
