501(c)3 Foundation

As a business association, EDC is a 501(c)6 non-profit. We also have status as a 501(c)3 charitable nonprofit, known as San Diego Regional Economic Development Foundation. Contributions to our foundation are used to support and cultivate quality employment opportunities for residents across San Diego County.

The foundation receives grants from other non-profits, foundations, individual donations, and corporate contributions. Banks and other financial institutions often contribute Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) funds to the foundation to help meet the needs of low- and moderate-income neighborhoods. Members of the Strategic Roundtable, a group of nearly 40 retired executives supported by EDC, also make annual contributions to the foundation.

Current initiatives & programs the foundation supports:

The foundation is currently accepting contributions to support our internship program, which offers paid work experience to first-generation college students. Many of the programs associated with EDC’s Inclusive Growth initiative are funded by grants awarded to the foundation including Advancing San Diegothe Anchor Collaborative, and more.
