The San Diego Regional Economic Development Foundation’s mission is to support and cultivate sustainable employment opportunities for San Diego County residents contributing to a prosperous local economy.
The Foundation is aligned with EDC’s regional economic development goals, funding research and studies that inform initiatives to position San Diego as a magnet for investment and talent. Its priority is strengthening San Diego’s talent base, specifically through our veteran community. San Diego has the largest concentration of exiting military personnel in the country. By bolstering veteran career placement services, we can better meet regional workforce demands and provide sustainable employment opportunities to those who have served our country.
Through our foundation we also participate in the California Stewardship Network sharing San Diego’s most promising practices with regions throughout California under a commitment to addressing challenges through the lens of the triple bottom line – Economy, Environment and Equity.
Established in 2002 San Diego Regional Economic Development Foundation, a 501 c(3), historically funded Project Lead the Way, Sally Ride Science Festivals, Corporate Leaders Advocating Success Skills (CLASS) and the region’s Hire-A-Youth summer jobs. The Foundation also supported the Cali-Baja mega-region initiative winning public and private grants to create workforce development system alignment across Imperial and San Diego Counties.
